To celebrate GDevelop 5.6 and its new 3D editor, we asked the community to create the most visually impressive scenes they could dream up. From December 10th to December 14th, developers showed us exactly what GDevelop can do.

There was no theme this time—just pure creative freedom. Make something that looks awesome. The results? Way better than we expected.

Without further ado, here are the winners!

👑 Judges' Awards 👑

Our judges had a tough time picking winners—there were a lot of great submissions. But here's who came out on top:

1st Place: 1990s Realistic Horror Demo by FromFaux - Play on itch.io

1990s Realistic Horror Demo

1990s Realistic Horror Demo.

This one nailed the creepy 90s horror vibe. The lighting and atmosphere are spot-on. Good use of reflection on puddles, post-processing effects, and dynamic camera movement. It even has camera controls so you can take pictures, record videos and manage your gallery.

  • $100 USD credits for the GDevelop goodies store
  • 250 in-engine credits
  • Featured (like most of these tech demos!) in GDevelop's end-of-year video

2nd Place: Scattered Nature by Eldarduil - Play on itch.io

Scattered Nature.

Scattered Nature.

Beautiful natural environments with procedural terrain generation and well-executed prop scattering using LODs, and instanced meshes, showcasing solid technical execution. The camera movement feels smooth and the whole thing just looks really good. Very reminiscent of the Far Cry games!

  • $80 USD credits for the GDevelop goodies store
  • 250 in-engine credits

3rd Place: A Generic Anime Battler by A1degator - Play on itch.io

A Generic Anime Battler.

A Generic Anime Battler.

This anime-style scene brings ALL of the Persona 5 energy. If you're a fan of the Phantom Thieves, you're gonna love this one. Good camera handling, and a nice use of raycasting to choose between the different combat options.

  • $60 USD credits for the GDevelop goodies store
  • 250 in-engine credits

🎨 Notable Mentions

Some other projects that really stood out:

  • 3D Dino Demo by H4banero - Solid character animation and environments.
