Today is a happy day for GDevelop and Linux users in general! We're happy to announce that GDevelop is now part of Zorin OS 16.2 Education. Also, GDevelop is available (and always updated) as a Flatpak for distros that support it.
Zorin OS has been at the forefront of Linux distributions for a while, with Techradar saying "It has everything in terms of offering a friendly and usable experience to those coming from… Windows or macOS”.
Zorin also provides a spin of Zorin OS dedicated to teaching, called Education. In the latest version of Zorin OS 16.2 Education, GDevelop has been added. This is what Zorin has to say about GDevelop in Zorin OS 16.2 Education:
Now more than ever, it’s vital for students to learn technology skills to prepare them to succeed in the 21st century. Zorin OS Education has always provided powerful tools to teach coding and engineering in a fun and accessible way.
In Zorin OS 16.2 Education, we’re introducing another incredible tool: GDevelop. It’s full-featured, no-code game development software that lowers the barrier to learning programming, while giving students an infinite canvas to express their creativity. It’s accompanied by a comprehensive set of tutorials that guide you through every step in developing a game, so students have the freedom to learn at their own pace.
We at GDevelop are extremely proud of this partnership, and cannot wait to see what people create with GDevelop within Zorin OS Education moving forward.

Linux is all about personalization and user control. This extends to application distribution, where the future has never looked brighter.
Flatpak is an application distribution framework that makes deploying apps on Linux distributions quicker and more secure.
GDevelop is now available as a Flatpak package, which you can find by using Flathub, visiting our own download page, or typing the following command on a Flatpak-compatible distro:
To Install:
flatpak install flathub io.gdevelop.ide
To Run:
flatpak run io.gdevelop.ide
Many Linux distributions already have Flatpak compatibility built into their package managers, so you can also just look for GDevelop there.
GDevelop continues its quest to democratize game creation for everyone. This will mean more partnerships in the future, as we strive to make GDevelop available to as many people as possible, on as many platforms as possible.
